Daryl Griffith
Director
Daryl is an award-winning composer, orchestrator, and conductor whose work spans film, TV, pop music, ballet and theatre, with experience at all major European studios including Abbey Road, Air Lyndhurst and Synchron. He’s passionate about helping fellow composers achieve their orchestral visions more effectively, whilst helping producers optimise budget and time constraints. That’s why he founded MMUK over a decade ago!
Notable projects include:
Providing orchestrations for Warner Bros’ Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and arrangements for Wonka. Being lead orchestrator on Lucasfilm’s The Acolyte.
Orchestrating and conducting projects such as Christina Aguilera’s 2020 version of “Reflection” in Disney’s, Mulan, with similar work for bands like McFly, games like Call of Duty Mobile, music production companies like Audiomachine and a wide range of composers including Nicholas Hooper, Paul Dinletir, Michael Abels, Stuart Roslyn and Tanuj Tiku.
Conducting Amazon’s Rings of Power and Reacher, Marvel’s Moon Knight and Hawkeye, as well as Disney+’s Diary of Wimpy Kid – to give just a few examples!
Some of Daryl’s other achievements include being Conductor and Principal Pianist with English National Ballet, working as Music Director and Principal Conductor with London City Ballet, orchestrating and conducting Prokofieff’s Cinderella in London’s West End & Los Angeles' Ahmenson Theater for Matthew Bourne, as well as orchestrating BAFTA nominated (Oliver Twist) and BAFTA winning projects (The Young Visiters and Prime Suspect: The Final Act).
Daryl is also co-founder / director of production music catalogues 2nd Foundation Music and Arrow Production Music, with composer and twice-MPSE nominated Hollywood music editor, Bradley Farmer. And, in 2023 Daryl launched Conducting for Film, a platform through which composers can improve their session results whether they conduct the music or simply produce the session.
Wes Hicks
Production Manager
Wes is a highly skilled music editor and mixer, with extensive experience in editing, engineering, producing, mixing, and orchestrating recordings for global commercial release. He has worked on numerous high-profile, multi-million-dollar projects, including films such as Barbie, Deadpool & Wolverine, and Gladiator II. As a leading editor on major Hollywood productions, Wes has a unique understanding of what will work (and what won’t!) in post-production stages, a valuable asset when acting as producer during orchestral recording sessions.
A graduate of the prestigious Tonmeister course at the University of Surrey, Wes earned a First-class (Hons) degree and received the AMS Neve Portfolio Prize for his exceptional portfolio. Since graduating in 2016, he has contributed to the music departments of numerous feature films, trailers, and TV series, working with top-tier clients such as Warner Bros, Disney, Universal Studios, Netflix, Paramount, Amazon Studios, BBC, and more.
Wes is also a visiting speaker at the Film Scoring Academy of Europe.
In addition to his role at Maestro Music UK, Wes composes electronic music for the library music label Arrow Production Music.
James Yan
Music Production Coordinator
James is an accomplished media composer and orchestrator.
A graduate of the Royal College of Music’s highly esteemed Composition for Screen program, James’ work has been widely featured across major networks and platforms, including the BBC, Big Ten Network, Eurosport, PBS, CNN, ESPN, Discovery, the NBA, and the NFL’s acclaimed ‘All Access’ series, among others. He has composed original scores for an array of documentaries, short films, web series, and animations.
In his role as Music Production Coordinator, James leads Maestro Music UK’s orchestration team. His orchestration credits span various film, TV, and video game projects, with contributions to high-profile projects including Disney’s The Acolyte, the global gaming phenomenon Call of Duty: Mobile, and Bollywood blockbuster Tiger 3.
As well as his work as an orchestrator and composer, James is handy when it comes to coding, and has scripted a number of custom virtual instruments for the MMUK team to use in an assortment of projects.
Ben Griffin
Audio Editor & Mixer
Ben is an accomplished editor and music mixer with extensive experience in sound and music post-production.
A graduate of the University of Surrey’s Creative Music Technology program, Ben began his career as a sound editor, honing his skills in audio editing and mixing. His expertise has contributed to numerous feature films and TV series featured on Netflix, BBC, Disney, Amazon, and HBO.
In 2023, Ben became a key member of Maestro Music UK, with a particular focus on music mixing and score editing.
